RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGISTS
From x-rays in the hospitals emergency room to ultrasound in OB, from CT scans and MRI in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, cancer and other diseases, imaging technology is everywhere in the healthcare industry.

The Shortage:

  • The American Society of Radiology Technologists estimates that there are currently over 30,000 vacancies nationwide.
  • The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that over 75,000 additional radiology technologists will be needed nationwide by 2008.
  • There will be an additional need for over 30,000 “special modality” technologists in this same time frame. These modalities include C.T. Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Radiology, and Ultrasound.
  • In February, an American Hospital Association survey showed that radiology technologists have an average vacancy rate of 15% - the highest average vacancy rate of any hospital profession. Most of this is due to the graying of America coupled with phenomenal technological advances in medical imaging. Demand for skilled technologists continues to far exceed supply.
  • In the AHA survey, 21% of hospitals nationwide reported a severe shortage of radiology technologists. The rapid growth in patient volume and types of services continues to raise staffing requirements in all facilities.
  • Like nurses in the United States, most working radiology technologists today are aging; more than half were born before 1960.
  • There are fewer schools which provide training for radiology technologists. In 1994, there were 692 radiography schools nationwide accredited by the JRCERT. In 2000, that number had decline to 584.

Our Radiology Technologists have a 2 year Degree program and have at least 2 years of Hospital experience. Aside from possessing excellent English verbal and written communication skills, our Company strongly emphasizes that our applicant must be knowledgeable or familiar with the most up to date x-ray equipments in the imaging industry.

OUR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS
In the Philippines, physical therapy programs are generally 5 years in length and are awarded a B.S. Physical Therapy degree upon graduation. The program consists of 2 years of general education, 2 years of physical therapy subjects, and a final year of internship & research/thesis. Some schools require students to complete a full 12 months of internship while other schools only require 10. During the internship year, students are required to fulfill clinical affiliations with hospitals, outpatient clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Once a student graduates from the BSPT program, he/she is then required to pass a national licensure exam administered by the Professional Regulation Commission. The said paper-based exam is a grueling 2 day ordeal which consists of approximately 730 questions. It is only administered twice a year and the names of those who pass the exam are published in several national newspapers. Those who pass the exam become licensed PT’s and are then entitled to add the initials PTRP (Physical Therapist Registered in the Philippines) after their name.

Our Physical therapists have interpersonal skills to successfully educate patients about their physical therapy treatments. They are also compassionate and possess a desire to help patients, and sometimes can interact positively with the patient's family.
